The Journey Grows You

I’ve created a lot of blogs over the last decade. Between Livejournal, Blogger, Tumblr, & WordPress, there have been options a plenty. Some have stuck longer than others, but all have lacked structure and for that reason, ended up abandoned.

The same concepts applies to career paths. I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve begun to write, only to abandon them at the first sign of Writer’s Block. I’ve entertained the world of veterinary medicine, but that too was left in the dust once I allowed myself to think about it logically. While life long asthma and allergies stopped me from pursuing a career in the field, it in no way stops me from loving animals and bringing them into my family whenever possible.

As you can see, I am incredibly indecisive, which explains why it’s taken me 3 decades to decide what I want to do with my life. That brings me to the purpose of this blog. What drives a person to create one anyway? Instead of just winging it this time, I did some research. There are a few general reasons one should create a blog: to teach, to learn, or to document. It is recommended that bloggers choose a specific theme. For example, fashion, cooking, etc.

I’ve pondered and pondered a theme that would work for me, but when it comes to one specific topic I continue to draw blanks.

Writing is where it’s at for me, and it’s been that way for as long as I can remember. But writing blogs can be difficult. As writers, if all we do is post our work on a blog, we’d have nothing to send off for publishing. So, some opt to take that teaching route. But, I’m still teaching myself.

That brings us to the option of a lifestyle blog. It allows me to broaden my options while still keeping it specific enough to gain readership, or at least that’s what I can hope for.  Aside from that, after losing my Dad in January to a heart attack, I have a newfound respect for memory keeping and living a full life.

So here we are. My lifestyle blog. At this point, my lifestyle consists of working towards a degree in journalism and mass communication, maintaining an alternative lifestyle while working in corporate America, building a life and unconventional household, recovering from multiple health issues and traveling every chance I get.

I’d say this a good start and I’m glad you’re here to join me on this beautiful journey called life.

After losing her father in early 2018, she realized the importance of following her heart. She now lives in happiness with her best friend and fiancé.
